I went to this awesome little Italian place in Paddington for dinner with friends a few months ago. The ambiance was excellent, reminiscent of a 1940's cafe with lovely antiquated ceiling fans and quaint furniture. There was a variety of food from pasta to steaks to sea food.
The food was superb and excellently priced (I had the Alla Puttanesca for $22). I also had some Italian beer (Messina) which was very nice!
The deserts were also extremely good! I had a Tiramasu (which was around $10) which was sublime!
Annie and I went back to Grappino's for a special occasion and we were very pleased with the food (again!). The service was a little annoying though. We had a trainee waitress ask for our order every 2 minutes, so we felt kind of rushed.
Also the restaurant was so full that the next table was only about 10 inches away from us. No private conversations there!
In retrospect I have to say the ambiance is excellent for groups as opposed to couples.
A strange highlight was when the people at the table next to ours shoved their baby in its little carrier under the table for the duration of their meal! Stranger things....
